Future Stars Trackside at the 2010 V8 Super Cars

Future Stars at the V8 Supercars

Karen Sheldon Catering has been a major caterer for The Hidden Valley sector of the Australian V8 Supercars for the past 6 years. This event is one of the biggest and most exciting events in Darwin, attracting average crowds of40,000 people.

For the past 2 years, Karen Sheldon Training and Development has set up a Monster Cafe in track centre at Hidden Valley. The Monster Cafe was established as a training exercise and is planned and operated by our Future Stars. The Cafe operates twelve hours a day for the three days of the event, and sells thousands of our amazing BlackSteak Wraps, burgers, sandwiches, cappuccinos and cakes.

We are constantly amazed at the energy, enthusiasm and longevity displayed by our trainees. They are always up early for the long trip to the track, ready to start work at 6am. They contributed to both the menu and kitchen design, and set up practical work systems to enable a smooth workflow. They then work enthusiastically, often for up to12 hour shifts!

The V8 Supercar event is a wonderful shared workplace exercise, where our Future Stars work really show their ability under extremely high pressure. Each trainee excels in different ways and gains valuable workplace experience.

The trainers also have the chance to bond with the trainees and use the time to impart valuable information. The public are constantly amazed at the level of professionalism displayed by our trainees, and we receive a high level on interest from potential employers. This event is a buzz for us all!
